Designed for mayors, councillors and municipal staff, and the specific challenges and opportunities you face, Alberta Climate Leaders offers several complementary tools that can be accessed on demand and adapted to your own community’s context.
Delivered through a collaboration between the Community Energy Association (CEA) and the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC), Alberta Climate Leaders is informed by both organizations’ climate, energy, and resilience expertise. These tools will help you make informed decisions to build lasting benefits for people and the environment.

This guide outlines contextualized, accessible and data-informed actions that are proven to reduce emissions and build resilience. The Climate Leaders Playbook draws on research, best practices and case studies from across Canada and is tailored for Albertan communities.
Explore Impact
The Climate Action Explorer is a free tool for understanding past, present and future greenhouse gas emissions in any Alberta municipality. It can be used to build an energy and emissions inventory, visualize the benefits of climate action, and underpin municipal climate planning.
Join a Peer Network
Join a network of peers who share an interest in pursuing impactful climate action and collaboration.
Local elected officials are invited to join the Alberta Municipal Climate Leadership Council.
Staff from municipal and Indigenous communities and Indigenous government organizations are invited to join the Alberta Climate Leaders Staff Peer Network.
